Born and raised in a family that has a strong appreciation towards Arts and Music, Neonomora has been attached to listen to variety of music and colorful piece of arts since an adolescent. Neonomora and family relocated to Urbana Champaign, Illinoi as his father finishing his master`s degree. Neonomora was an effervescent, bubbly kid. Although English was not her mother-tongue at first, she adapts very fast and makes new friends with no difficulties. She became used to facing different cultures and languages since a little. For only one year, she already remembered every song learned at the playground. Her mother sees her talent and took a chance to motivate her to sing. Her mother acquainted her to listen to great soul artists such as Etta James, Shirley Bassey, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Earth Wind and Fire, and many more legendary soul artists while his father familiarizes her with BeeGees and Queen. Her mother was a singer back then - collaborated along with some Indonesian Jazz Legends including Jack Lesmana, Bubi Chen and many more. She taught Neonomora to sing in the first place. When she became a teenager she was introduced to `the other parts of the world` instead of music. It was Arts. She discovered that Arts has a great deal for her inner soul. She stated that Arts could make her feel more alive. She began to learn Arts in high school when she and family moved to Beijing, China. Neonomora has always been curious about anything she receives through her senses. When she`s asked on an interview about her hidden talents, she reassures that she wouldn`t call them as `talents`, "It is more of being inquisitive per se - a form of hunger to discover more and more in life". She took a big part in photography, graphic design and illustration for some fashion brands and music discography. During her university years in Australia she had been introduced to different range of music, starting from Beirut, Coldplay, Radiohead, Bjork, Kings of Leon, Lykke Li, Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, The Head and The Heart, Kimbra, Florence and the Machine and many more indie rock bands to folk artists. This is when she started to mature as an artist and a musician. Diving too deep in the ocean of Arts, she has almost lost the surface for her love of singing. She then started to combine both aptitudes she possesses to form a greater realm of creation. Encouraged by her brother (Bam Mastro), who is also a singer himself in a band called SaySky from Perth - Western Australia, she managed to get helped in music-production and direction. Bam wrote `You Want My Love` and Neonomora fell deeply in love to the song the first time she heard it. "It speaks about me!" She screamed loudly in a studio while listening to the song. Although Bam had a different point of view to the lyrics, Neonomora claimed that the lyrics say a lot about what she has been through in life, "You may think it`s about a love song". She says,"Regardless, it`s really up to the ears of the listeners to perceive, but for me personally it`s like shouting to the world that `I can no more wait `til dawn` to show how much love that I have to this life, to the people I love and love me in return and the gifts I have received in life.. Life surely wants my love!" she continued with her signature laugh. She came up with a stage name Neonomora for a reason that she loves everything about the outer space. Her actual name, Ratih Suryahutamy, is derived from two terms in Sanskrit; which Ratih means Moon Goddess and Surya means the Sun. Neonomora is a combination of terms that have the same meaning; Nomo is moon in the right order, and Ra means the Sun God in ancient Egypt language. She got clicked with the name and has consistently been using the name for the past 3 years. "All my life, I have been blessed to have lived in different places for 24 years and to witness the arts and music created in those places both modern and traditional. I finally ended up doing what I have wanted to do, thus I want to get involved as much as I possibly can in order to create some great piece of arts and music for everyone to listen and see. My passion is constructed by inspirations I received in life. You may have been my inspiration too, you see. Life has inspired me a lot; therefore I want to share my own earnest inspiration back to life" Neonomora.
