Strangers is a brit pop/rock band formed in 2007, a collaboration of four young talented artists from Bandung, Indonesia, Ican (Vocal), Gugun (Guitar), Lanlan (Bass) and Nayaka (Drums). Influenced by different colours of music from each individuals such as Freddy Mercury, Eric Martin, The Beatles, Radiohead, Joni Greenwood, Lee Retenour, Nuno Bettencourt, Mike Portnoy and Wong Aksan, Strangers brings out their best music in Brit Pop & Rock Genre. The musical concept are honest, simple, raw, and powerfull in soul, delivers another different beat to the industry. Their vision is to branch out their music to every corner of the world, where ever that may be. As long there are ears to listen, eyes to see and hearts that are ready to embrace sincerity. As lead vocalist, Ican's powerfull and soulfull vocal is heavily inspired by legendary singer Freddy Mercury from Queen, Eric Martin from Mr Big and several soul singer from the 80's like Peabo Bryson and Stevie Wonder "Their voice genuinely comes from the heart, without any means to sounds like a masterpice, but they succeded to become one" , Ican said. Addicted to Radiohead, Lanlan first amazed to the band when he first listen to Just, "it's strange how Joni Greenwood play uniquely tuneless guitar but manage to harmonize it to the song". While Naya, decided to play drums in Junior High School when he first bought Pandawa Lima, a debut album from Dewa where Aksan joined the band in drums. He fell in love to the instrument and from that moment on, Naya positioned himself as the drumbeat of a band. Last but not least, the melody of Strangers, Gugun first inspiration in music rise when he was just a kid. His father adore and collected almost entire Beatles albums, Gugun listened to stars like ABBA, Beatles, Earth Wind & Fire and classical musics since his early age, so no wonder if music is already in his blood. It is their great passion and talent in music, brought them together in Strangers. They're all strangers at first, but once they meet, they surely make one of those music that steal everyone's attention. Strangers released their debut album entitled Everything Goes Automatic on The 7th November 2008. Strangers work with music composer Wong Aksan, Vocal Coach Prama Hanindia and movie producer Dewi Umaya Rachman on the making. The Hit Single "Heavenly" reached its peak position to 1 in several hit radio station charts in Bandung and the album has been given great reviews from local radios and printed media such as Pikiran Rakyat, HAI, Grey, Jeune and Rolling Stone Indonesia. Tangisan Ibu Pertiwi is also a soundtrack from Minggu Pagi di Victoria Park , a movie directed by Lola Amalia along with other musicians such as Endah n Rhesa, Titi Sjuman and Reda. The rest of the song deliver ballad scene to room, enjoy the whole singles like The Fool, Now, My Beautifull, Headline, Everyone, I Will Wait, He is Me and Two Dimensions and they won't be strangers no longer to the ears. |
