Casual Sunday are an Alternative/Pop band who has existed since the beginning of 2009. The band is uniquely known for being a "family" band, consisting of brothers Chris (Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar), Brian (Drums and backing vocals), and Andrew (Bass and backing vocals).
Chris and Andrew began their stint in music in high school, playing at various events. Upon moving to Melbourne, they began to play at many events, including those hosted by the Indonesian Student Association Australia (PPIA) which include Jazz Night, Alun-Alun, and Kafe Art, and local events such as the Geelong Cultural Festival (which earned their band First Place).
Upon returning to Indonesia in 2008, Chris and Andrew, together with younger brother Brian, formed Casual Sunday. The newly formed family band began their music career playing in various venues and events, playing "unplugged" covers of pop, rock, and alternative songs. Casual Sunday played at various events, touching ground on some of Jakarta's well known venues such as Hard Rock Café, Barcode, X2, and Planet Hollywood to name a few. Casual Sunday has also played at various University events and High School "Pensi's" in Jakarta and Bandung.
Their uniqueness lied in the fact that Chris and Andrew were twins, and that Brian was their younger brother. People enjoyed their upper market, yet widely enjoyed, repertoire of songs which were fresh, yet enjoyable by a wide variety of audiences.
Sticking to this concept, Casual Sunday decided to record their songs, mixing Western and Indonesian tastes for Pop and Rock. The band chose to pre-release one song, "Sang Pengacau" on 90.8 FM Oz Radio Jakarta and 103.1 FM Oz Radio Bandung, as well as performing live on those respective radio stations. Their song is still currently being played and also being requested on Oz Radio.
For this year's JavaRockingLand performance, Casual Sunday has promised to "Rock" up their performance. Check out their performance on Sunday Oct 10, 2010!
|
